Urban Planning and architecture are both careers that imply design in similar aspects; but, are they really alike?. For starters Urban Planning is a young career in comparison to architecture but, it has grown fast, reaching a place of its own as an important discipline; needed to achieve a mixture of environment and structures, that is of course in terms of creating the perfect urban area whereas Architecture is based on the building of specific structures; it feeds from every element of the human mind, thus creating a balance between the structure and materialization of the perfect place for every people.
These two professions have many aspects in common and, of course many differences that separate them, for example:
Architecture is in charge of creating a specific structure for the person that is going to inhabit it; also the structure has to suit every persons demands (sociological, physiological, and psicological needs), aside from the architect the urban planner has to visualize a much larger scale of the city and has to be in sync with every people so that he can make not only a well sustained area, but a special place for every individual.
From whatever difference architecture and urban planning may have, there are many similar elements they share, for example:
Architects and Planners need to posses a 3D view of objects and space, they both need to take into account the needs of every person and most importantly they have to work together and rely on each other's work so that they can guarantee an unimaginable place for all kinds of people to0 live in.
How does Caracas stand in terms of both, architecture and urban planning?
From my point of view, the city of Caracas was possesor of gorgeus edifications; people around the world left their mark on this historical and beautiful place from an Architect and Urban Planner view. But through time people have been taking less care of the place they live in and that is why it is up to the new generation to restore what the Valley of Caracas was.
